A versatile bilingual orator, MR. J. KAMALANATHAN, has addressed many a heterogenous gathering from diverse platforms. With a firm determination to instil courage and confidence into every budding engineer of the institution, he breathed into everyone’s mind a secret formula for Success.
Quoting many illustrious personages like Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam amd Abraham Lincoln, whose unpromising beginnings barred by failures occasionally, ultimately took them to the topmost rung of the ladder of success and fame, proved to be exemplary illustrations.
Expounding the ten platforms for Success, he listed them thus:

  1. Education with the ultimate goal in mind  and to pursue it  with utmost perseverance.
  2. The right choice of a profession.
  3. Marriage – arranged or otherwise, should be a lasting relationship.
  4. Duty to society. An individual should turn out to be an asset to his family, his surroundings, his society, the nation, the world, rather than for himself.
  5. Money procured in a just manner and utilized for the right purpose.
  6. To maintain healthy relationship with kin and associates.
  7. To communicate in the most pleasing and persuasive manner.
  8. To cultivate an interest and involvement in some art form, some creative activity such as painting, music, sculpture, or acting.
  9. To earn fame by creating or inventing something novel and rare.
  10. Cultivate peace of mind.

These alone will guarantee a life of unalloyed joy and satisfaction.
      How to achieve the above?

  1. Cherish a desire - the right desire that will promise you ultimate success. ‘Think big’ is the mantra and you will do big. “Dream and then chase the dream”, said Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam.
  2. Aspiration and Effort.
  3. Fear is inborn. But one must not reveal it at any cost. Poet Subramania Bharati’s words on ‘fearlessness’ were quoted. Fear not failure because failures are the stepping stones to success.
  4. Tireless effort and determination to reach the goal.
  5. We are the master of our thoughts. Our thoughts make us what we are. Develop positive thinking.
  6. Happiness is a habit. It should be cultivated. Make everyone around you feel happy.
  7. Do not allow opportunities to glide away. Nothing is impossible.
  8. Speak, communicate, express yourself as much as possible.  Practice the skill. Speak pleasantly, intelligently, truthfully, caringly, pertaining to the situation, uncritically, and always with a humorous touch.
  9. Time consciousness.
  10. Develop confidence in yourself. Confidence is the companion of Success.

The speaker concluded on a grand note with a declaration that Man is the crowning glory of creation.               So every individual is a unique personality, in fact, each one is a miracle of the world. He held the listeners spellbound by his brainstorming speech.
The programme gained momentum when the themes were accompanied by appropriate lyrics selected from the album of cine songs. As the curtain fell on the event, the Chief Guest invited the audience to make a suitable contribution to the topic of the moment with an apt song from the movies. The call was vehemently responded to by Srihari (I B.E. CSE) and Praveen Kumar (I B.E Civil).
